There has been an accident, due to an earthquake, resulting in troubles
of Belle SVD detectors. Initially, the power consumption of one circuit
found to be abnormal but the trouble was identified not as the power supply
but as somewhere down stream, resulting in an interrupt of the data
taking. We opened the endcap detector.
We lost great deal of efficiencies. Why? see
the below nasty picture:
- Recovery from the disaster
Yes, things like this happen all the time. The repair work was finished
and the Belle detector is running again. I heard that by doing this exercise
two of ECL cables are incorrectly connected resulting in modification
in ECL unpacking codes. Ouch!
